Even though you focus merely on news professionals in this article, I feel the same type of media control can be found everywhere. I know I'll be hated and hunted down for saying this, but I particularly dislike Oprah for this very reason. She uses her broad influence to literally control the actions of millions of "followers." When other celebrities partake in similar actions, they are added to my little blacklist - for with great power comes great responsibility, and in today's society, fortune and fame = great power.
