The BlobFresh from turning Halloween‘s Michael Myers into a hallucinating momma’s boy that loves ponies and tickles, “director” Rob Zombie is set to butcher yet another classic movie monster, The Blob.

Ironically Zombie’s Blob will also like ponies and tickles, but alas sometimes you can love something too much.

“I’d been looking to break out of the horror genre, and this really is a science fiction movie about a thing from outer space. I intend to make it scary, and the great thing is I have the freedom once again to take it in any crazy direction I want to,” said Zombie, apparently unaware of the gory 1988 remake. “My intention is not to have a big red blobby thing — that’s the first thing I want to change. That gigantic Jello-looking thing might have been scary to audiences in the 1950s, but people would laugh now.”

However if the changes are too dramatic and don’t honor what’s come before it, we could have another Zilla on our hands as in that pale imitation of Godzilla. So what should call this fake blob? Perhaps “blobzilla” or we could remove “The” and just call it “blob.” Then again,  Zombie apparently has a problem with the original’s huge size so “The Glob” might be more fitting.

Well it turns out Rob Zombie may have beaten us to it. IMDB has listed a new movie called B.L.O.B., and the 2011 release date seems to correspond with Rob’s remake, which begins production this spring. It’s unknown what the acronym stands for, maybe Biohazard that Lives On Blood.
