The 500-year-old mystery of the Mona Lisa’s identity could be solve as soon as this summer.

Italy’s National Committee for Cultural Heritage thinks it’s a self-portrait of Leonardo da Vinci and has requested permission to exhume his body so that they can reconstruct his face and compare it to the painting. Jason Rosenfeld, associate professor of Art History at Marymount Manhattan College, asks “If Leonardo is a Renaissance man… why can’t he be a transvestite as well, and a cross-dresser?”
