The Walking Dead Strangers Bob Lawrence Gilliard Jr Gareth Andrew J West

No sooner than everyone reunites on The Walking Dead, do they get separated again! Bob (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.) is kidnapped at the end of “Strangers.” Gareth (Andrew J. West) explains that since they destroyed Terminus they had to become hunters. It’s a nearly verbatim speech to the comic book story except that it not Dale who’s on the menu this time.

“If it makes you feel any better, you taste much better than we thought you would,” the cannibal callously rates his cuisine.

West says he also enjoys eating “weird things” like fried crickets and live meal worms but he has no clue what he was actually eating while filming the scene.

“I’d like to think that I wasn’t put in harm’s way, but whoever it is that’s responsible for these things, they do it well,” to told AMC during a Q&A.

The Walking Dead 64 Dale Hunters tainted meat

Those Bob’s burgers might leave a bad taste in his mouth because Dale laughs hysterically as he reveals that he was bitten by a zombie in The Walking Dead #64. He yells that he’s tainted meat. The Hunters reason that they will be okay because he hasn’t turned and they thoroughly cooked the meat. We never find out whether they were correct because Rick dispatches them without mercy, much to the shock of Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam). The Hunters try to lure out Rick and the others by using Dale but they manage to retrieve him in time to say a proper goodbye.

There are more clues that a similar fate is in store for Bob. He encounters a walker swimmer earlier in the episode. At one point, he’s pulled under the water. He completely out of view so could have been bitten then. Later at the church, he gets kissed by Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) but asks for “one more.” Bob inexplicably wanders off with what looks like a limp, which is telling since Dale was bitten on his leg. Most of all, it just seems unlikely we’ll have another leg amputee after it was already done with Hershel (Scott Wilson) unless they up the ante and do a double amputation.

In the following episode “Four Walls and a Roof” Sasha accuses Gabriel of being involved in the disappearance of three members of the group. She’s presumably talking about Bob plus Carol (Melissa McBride) and Daryl (Norman Reedus), who aren’t actually missing but chasing down the vehicle involved in the abduction of Beth (Emily Kinney). The TWD comic book reveals the only thing he’s guilty of is locking the church doors when the zombie apocalypse started. This is supported by the message carved into the church: “You will burn in hell for this.”

The Walking Dead airs Sunday 9PM on AMC.
