Jimmy Kimmel X-Files parody David Duchovny Gillian Anderson

Jimmy Kimmel prepared actors David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson to reprise their roles as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully for the upcoming X-Files mini-series. Kimmel plays an agent hired to acclimate the duo, who are accustomed to AOL, 56K modems and brick cell phones. He suggested that they’ll “always have the 90s” even if the mini-series doesn’t live up to the original as some early reviews claim. Kimmel salvaged the bad idea with some fanservice. He told them that after 23 years of searching for aliens, it’s time they probe each other.

The actors later revealed they didn’t initially have chemistry on the set of X-Files. Anderson blamed the tension between them on frequent interruptions to blow dry her frizzy hair while shooting.

“And I got pissed at that?” asked Duchovny. “Kinda makes me sound like an asshole.”

The actors have clearly made up since. Anderson was extremely affectionate with her co-star. She got hot and bothered after using the word moist to describe the climate in Vancouver. The giggly blonde clung to Duchovny to shield her face turning red from embarrassment.

Could there be an off-screen romance brewing? I want to believe.

X-Files mini-series premieres January 24, Sunday 10PM EST (7PM PST) on Fox.
