PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is once again using scantily-clad women to draw attention to animal abuse. The animal rights group has preregistered the domain www.Peta.xxx, a top-level domain intended for adult websites.

“A lot of organizations were gun shy about the triple-x domain, but when PETA saw it we thought this would be triple-extra effective,” says Lindsay Rajt, director of campaigns for PETA.

The website will feature full nudity, but don’t expect to see the birds and the bees. Rajt says it will be erotic, not pornographic. Just enough to entice.

“When people first visit the site, it will be very enticing and once they go just a little bit deeper, that’s when they’ll be confronted with images that we hope will make them stop and think and get them talking and hopefully encourage them to make a lifestyle change to a plant-based diet,” explains Rajt.

Animal Control in Jefferson County, Colorado will be encouraging residents to pick up after their dogs by clearing up The Myth of the Poop Fairy.

The campaign runs from July 9 -17 during which volunteers wearing blue “Poop Fairy” T-shirts will greet patrons of local parks to break the news to them that “There is no poop fairy.” The Poop Fairy joins the annals of PSA mascots such as: Smokey Bear, Woodsy Owl, and crying Indian whose duty was to prevent pollution.

Researchers at Harvard have reversed the aging process in mice. First they prematurely aged the mice by genetically engineering out telomerase, an enzyme that creates protective caps on the end of DNA strands called telomeres. The mice suffered from a variety of age-related afflictions such as testes reduced in size and depleted of sperm, atrophied spleens, damage to the intestines, and shrinkage of the brain along with an inability to grow new brain cells, all of which were reversed with the reintroduction of the enzyme.

“We at best expected it to be a slowing of the process or perhaps an arresting of the process. We did not anticipate that it would be so dramatic a reversal in all of the problems that the animal was experiencing,” said Dr. Ronald DiPinho.

But don’t cancel your life insurance policy just yet. The mice didn’t live any longer, just better. And the enzyme could have the side effect of making cancer cells “virtually immortal.” DePinho says one solution might be limiting exposure to days or weeks at a time.

A pair of male vultures has been separated after months of living together. One of the vultures will be shipped off to a Czech zoo to mate. PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is claiming victory after Dodge digitally removed the chimpanzee (but not its clothes) from its new “Tent Event” commercial.

“And just like that, Dodge joins Travelers Insurance, AT&T, and Europcar, companies that have pulled or altered ads with great apes in just the last month after being contacted by PETA,” said PETA.

Ironically, one of their complaints was that these apes are discarded at “seedy roadside zoos” when they become more trouble than they’re worth (kinda like now).

Of course you realize, this means war.

In a world populated by animals, rabbits Packy and Botasky combat camel terrorists in the Middle East as part of special forces unit known as Cat Shit One.

The animation doesn’t just look great, it feels spot on. The characters’ movements are almost too realistic. Packy and Botasky move just like you’d expect rabbits walking on their hind legs to move, waddling back and forth on their big floppy feet.  The hunched over camel are equally clumsily. They walk as though on stilts and even trip on occasion.

But Cat Shit One never trivializes war.

Although bloodless, the action is frighteningly intense. Most of the fighting is done with long range weapons but sometimes these soldiers have to get their paws dirty. In order to sneak into the enemy camp, Packy slits the throat of one of the guards then dispatches the kidnappers with a silencer. War ain’t pretty, but it’s pretty damn cute!

The Taliban isn’t worried about accusations of animal cruelty though. In fact, they’re counting on it. “If a person who loves animals knows the monkeys may be injured in the war, they might pressure the government to force the withdrawal of western forces in Afghanistan,” said one Taliban insider.

Stars and Stripes contacted the Chinese Embassy to determine the validity of the story but a spokesman would only say that “the Chinese government is opposed to terrorism of any forms” (human or otherwise).
