Zombie? What zombie?

School’s out forever when zombies show up for class. But the undead aren’t the only pus heads hungry for the flesh of young girls – so are fanboys!

After all, just because these girls are about to become zombie lunch, doesn’t mean they can’t be a sexy zombie lunch. Highschool of the Dead delivers with gratuitous amounts of fanservice.

It’s not just warranted things like bouncing body parts or ripped clothes, the camera often drops well below eye level and holds there for an awkward amount of time, even in the middle of what’s supposed to be a frightening zombie attack.

While fanboys may appreciate indiscriminate T&A, those looking for some serious horror will just find it distracting.

OVERBLOWN.

All the characters have ridiculously big breasts. It’s not just the teachers and students, even zombies look like porn stars (well, except for the whole decomposing thing). Clearly artist Shouji Satou likes ‘em big but not just any kind will do. While the size may vary (slightly) from girl to girl, the shape does not. They all have torpedo tits, huge gravity-defying tits that stick straight out. As improbable as these breasts may seem in the real world, in Satou’s world they’re standard issue. But they’re not just for show. They’re practical too. When one of students has difficulty shooting he decides to use his classmate’s chest to absorb the recoil of his rifle.

HIGHSCHOOL OF THE DEAD 101

After witnessing a series of bizarre murders at his school, Takashi Komoru rushes to save his childhood friend and unrequited love Rei Miyamoto… and her boyfriend Hisashi Igou (sigh). Fortunately for him, Hisashi gets infected which forces Takashi to man up. His new take charge attitude not only impresses Rei but the rest of the students, who unanimously elect Takashi Komuro as leader of the group. His first order: save their parents! Conveniently the other students’ parents are away on business, to which they comically inquire “What are you, a manga character?”

Fourth wall jokes notwithstanding, the characters are anything but two-dimensional. The manga beautifully employs flashbacks that elevate what would otherwise be tertiary characters. And each episode ends with an ever expanding bulletin board of missing persons that illustrates the changes characters have undergone since Z-Day.

Highschool of the Dead is like a manga version of The Walking Dead comic. It’s not so much about the dead as it is the living and how they cope, which isn’t very well. Not only do they have to deal with other survivors that want their women & weapons, the group has it’s own issues (besides Takashi killing Rei’s old boyfriend).

On the outside, Kohta Hirano and Saeko Busujima couldn’t be more different, he’s a gun otaku and she’s a distinguished kendo student but they do have one thing in common. They’ve both been holding in violent urges, that is until now. But while Saeko fears what she’s becoming, Kohta fears going back to the way he used to be, a nobody. On the other hand, the group’s resident (self-proclaimed) genius Saya Takagi, desperately wants things back to normal if only so she can go back to proving her mental superiority to the people keeping her alive. Ironically, the most well-balanced member of the group is Shizuka Marikawa, the top heavy school nurse. Alone none of them would survive very long, but together they stand a chance of moving on to the next year!

He doesn’t stop at just this one wayward well. Aquaman decides to shut down ALL offshore drilling arguing that “This fuel has done more damage than good to the world. It’s perpetuated war, greed, and corruption.”

Ironically, some supervillains interrupt Aquaman’s transition from superhero to eco-terrorist.

PHOTOSHOP DISCLOSURE:

The spill actually takes place off the Bermuda Triangle and Aquaman doesn’t say he’s “beyond perturbed” but he might as well, given how obvious the allusion is.

According to Google Adsense Terms of Service (TOS) simply linking to pornography (legal or not) is a violation, that is unless a website has enough traffic to make it worthwhile.

Manga & anime (Japanese comics and cartoons) frequently involve characters of questionable age in sexual situations but there’s nothing ambiguous about the genres known as Lolicon and Shotacon, in which  clearly prepubescent girls and boys are blatantly sexualized. While no actual children are involved, these images are still considered illegal under the United States’ Protect Act and the UK’s Coroners and Justice Act.

Nevertheless Google ads can be found on websites with lolicon titles such as:

This ad for Disney World appears directly under a picture of a child masturbating with a shower head (mangavolume.com).

Kodomo No Jikan, about a 3rd grader whose stepfather wants to marry her but she wants to be with her teacher (child nudity, masturbation, molestation in both manga & anime).

Omamori Himari, about a demon hunter with a harem of female demons, including a prepubescent girl who takes her clothes off and dry humps the main character to heal him in episode 5 (nudity is censored but the orgasmic moaning is not)

Chu-Bra!!, about middle school children that start an underwear club (child nudity and fondling in both manga & anime)

But it’s not really surprising that Google is advertising on these sites considering they themselves are showing Dance in the Vampire Bund (albeit a somewhat censored version) on Youtube, which is owned by Google.

While Google certainly isn’t the only company helping to sponsor lolicon, it is the largest and supposedly the most respected. And it’s not as if these sites are under the radar. Many of them are in the Top 1000 Adsense sites (http://serversiders.com/toplist/adsense) and include: Animextremist.com (#237), Mangaupdates.com (#549), Mangatoshokan.com (#833), and Foroanime.com (#900). Nor is the content hidden. In fact, it’s often openly advertised under the aforementioned Lolicon and Shotacon genres. These site even advertise themselves with Google Adwords using specific lolicon titles like “Kodomo No Jikan” as keywords. In other words, there’s no plausible deniability here. I confronted Google about this 2 weeks ago, but none of these sites have been banned so I’ve contacted the companies being advertised on them directly and will post their responses here.

Below are some examples with the companies sponsoring them in bold. Most of the ads are from the University of San Francisco Online (usanfranonline.com) & PRweb.com which don’t seem to care where their ads appear in general, but there are many more established organizations that you’d think would keep better track of where their advertising dollars are going such as: AT&T, Verizon, Disney, All State, Ace, Circuit City, Gillette, Frito Lay, American Express, ESPN and even the NATIONAL GUARD!

First of all, I don’t have a problem with opposing opinions so long as they more than just curse words with fake emails. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to moderate them sooner because I’ve been sick (which I sure some of you will be glad to here).

Secondly, the point of the article is not that lolicon should be banned or that anyone who reads it should be put in jail. The point (which I stated in the beginning) is the hypocrisy in allowing sites with material that clearly violates Google’s TOS (or worse) simply because they’re profitable. I could have written the same article about Google partnering with  websites like Gawker.com & PerezHilton.com, which have adult pornographic material, but that has already been pointed out by many already to no avail. But I bet I got their attention now.

FINAL UPDATE

I’ve closed comments as many are unfit to post and the rest are mostly about censorship and manga being banned, which isn’t the case. No manga, certainly not the adult variety, have been banned. Some websites have voluntarily taken down content to comply with Google’s TOS. All these manga are and will continue to get scanlated, they just won’t be hosted on websites with adsense. And for that I’m not sorry.

The Illuminati, a superhero cabal consisting of Iron Man, Mr. Fantastic, Doctor Strange, and Black Bolt, decide the Hulk is too dangerous and shoot him into space to live the rest of his life on an uninhabited planet. But the Hulk struggles and knocks the rocket off course, sending him through a wormhole to the planet Sakaar instead. Weakened from the trip, he is enslaved and forced to compete in gladiatorial games.

There’s nothing wrong with the story per se, it’s just not a faithful adaptation. And instead of pulling at your heart strings, it cuts them.

Iron Man’s assertion that the Hulk is too dangerous is laughable because he says it right after Hulk saves the world! At least that’s how it happened in the comic. The movie skips over any backstory and given the Hulk’s past, we’re left siding with Iron Man.

Not satisfied with making the Hulk an unsympathetic character, they’ve also managed to make him less heroic by removing scenes of self-sacrifice and replacing them with sappy symbolism. Originally the Hulk saved the people of Sakaar by letting alien parasites feed on him rather than his adoptive people. This time though Hulk saves Sakaar with his Miracle-Gro blood. Whenever he bleeds flowers magically sprout up! They’ve even worked this into the title screen, which is surrounded by green plants a la “The Smurfs.”

But what really makes me angry is that they turned what was an epic tragedy into a fairy tale. The whole point of Planet Hulk is supposed to be that the Hulk finally finds people who accept him only to lose them when the rocket that sent him there explodes and kills them. This brings about the biggest smack down ever when the Hulk returns to Earth for revenge in World War Hulk. But that sequel seems unlikely since there’s no explosion in the movie adaptation!

Puny Hulk

The Hulk has been so streamlined that he’s barely recognizable. It’s not just the lack of bulging veins, in both size and proportions he appears physically smaller. And despite being one of the Hulk’s smarter incarnations, he’s got an awfully dumb look on his face. In a failed attempted to make the Hulk look scarier, his trademark green eyes are now RED & YELLOW!?

The Hulk isn’t the only thing they’ve dumbed down. No longer do the natives refer to the Hulk primarily as Green Scar, after his face is cut in the arena. Apparently Marvel thought having multiple monikers would too confusing for the audience (What an “amazing” “sensational” “spectacular” failure!).

You’re doing yourself a disservice if watch this without reading the comic first. However, if you’re just looking for some good old fashioned “Hulk Smash” you won’t be disappointed. In fact, Planet Hulk is the most murderous Marvel (or DC) movie yet, which is probably why it’s “not rated.” Gladiators are dismembered & crushed, citizens are burned alive, even the biggest taboo of all is broken – killing kids! (Are you not entertained?)

Planet Hulk – Review is a post from: L7 World

“The man in the sky is not coming to save you,” is the premise behind Warren Ellis’ new mini-series Supergod.

Amid a burning London, a scientist named Reddin recounts the superhuman arms race that ignited the Apocalypse. The superhumans aren’t evil per se.  In fact, the most dangerous ones are those that want to save us, if only from ourselves. Krishna, a clone with artificial intelligence, decides that the best way to save India is with some involuntary population control. A fearful Pakistan launches a preemptive nuclear strike only to have Krishna send the nukes flying back at them. Although he erects a force field to contain the radiation, he strangely allows the debris to escape causing a nuclear winter. His reasons are his own. It’s one of many instances of Ellis drawing a parallel between superhumans & god, in that both are intrinsically unknowable.
