Amid a burning London, a scientist named Reddin recounts the superhuman arms race that ignited the Apocalypse. The superhumans aren’t evil per se.  In fact, the most dangerous ones are those that want to save us, if only from ourselves. Krishna, a clone with artificial intelligence, decides that the best way to save India is with some involuntary population control. A fearful Pakistan launches a preemptive nuclear strike only to have Krishna send the nukes flying back at them. Although he erects a force field to contain the radiation, he strangely allows the debris to escape causing a nuclear winter. His reasons are his own. It’s one of many instances of Ellis drawing a parallel between superhumans & god, in that both are intrinsically unknowable.

At least that’s what one family in Saudi Arabia is claiming. They’ve filed a lawsuit against a genie that’s been haunting them for the past 2 years. This unfriendly ghost has stolen their cell phones and left them threatening voicemails with their own phones no doubt! Although I am a little curious how they knew it was the genie. Was he like, “Yeah it’s me again, whoooooo~”

But if the family’s story is in fact true, they’ve going about this all wrong. It’s gonna to be a lot harder to summons a genie to appear in court than just rubbing some lamp. And even if they do manage to convict a supernatural being in absentia, how do they plan on collecting damages… free wishes? A small Connecticut church is in hot water with child & gay advocacy groups after a performing a violent exorcism on a 16-year-old boy to cure him of his homosexuality (video below). Pastor Patricia McKinney of Manifested Glory Ministries says she’s even been getting death threats as a result of the video, but doesn’t understand the outrage. Me either.

But not just any words, scripture. Bush reportedly received daily intelligence briefings with cover sheets that featured Biblical quotes such as “It is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men,” which appeared above a photograph of Saddam Hussein.

David Kuo, head of Bush’s White House “faith-based” program, told CNN “The guy knows how to market things, and clearly he knew how to market things to his boss, to his audience of one — the president of the United States. And that was to use these biblical quotes.”

A spokesman for Rumsfeld denies that Bush ever saw the cover sheets, “The report was briefed regularly to senior military officials in the Pentagon – only occasionally to the Secretary of Defense and not to the President of the United States. ” However when the creator of the slides, Major General Shaffer, received several complaints he defended them by saying they’re “appreciated by my seniors” (Bush & Rumsfeld).

Pentagon officials said they were worried that if the cover sheets ever got out they would give credibility to the notion that America is fighting a war on Islam, but apparently no one of them owns a shredder.

As bad as this story is, GQ is just making it worse. Printing this story is the same as the ACLU suing to release more Abu Ghraib photos. What’s the point?

17-year-old Ben Rayner was a big Doctor Who fan so when he died last month from cerebral palsy his family decided to send him off in style with his very own TARDIS!

They decorated Ben’s coffin to look like a police box and requested mourners not wear black to the service. “It’s going to help make the funeral fun for everyone and for him,” said his sister Lindsey.

Only word can adequately describe this: brilliant. May your adventures just be beginning Ben.
