Just like in the show, your Digimon will normally be in its weaker rookie state but during battle you can Digivolve into Champion and Mega levels. But don’t expect your opponent to wait for you. Turns are real-time, based on each character’s attack speed. As a result your greatest opponent will be Lagmon, an affectionate name for game lag that can get you killed.

It is possible to maintain your last Digivolution using items known as auras but these are very rare quest & event items and the only other way to get them is with WeCash, which you buy with real money through WeMade’s website.

Alleged MMO

Digimon Battle actually seems to discourage interaction between players. There’s no need to form parties for protection since enemies don’t initiate battle. You can even summon up to 2 extra Digimon during battle to make you own party, granted it’s more valuable time wasted. The only time you really need a party is for quests against incredibly strong Digimon, which are few and far between.

PVP is even worse. You can’t see the level of the person you’re challenging. On the other hand, the challenged player can see the challenger’s tamer level but only their main Digimon level, which means you could be in for nasty surprise if  they have significantly stronger Digimon as backup. Understandably, most people refuse challenges. That’s probably why game developer WeMade recently set up a section just for PVP.

Digimon Battle is devoid of any story whatsoever, and quests don’t go much further than “we need you to get rid of that dangerous Digimon in the Dungeon!” That just leaves catching and leveling your Digimon, and catching them has a very low rate of success. Fortunately, you can buy a special net to speed up that process. Unfortunately, you need more WeCash.

But without a doubt the most frustrating part of the game is collecting accessories (Crests, Digi-Eggs, Jewelry) to boost your stats even further. Crests have the most effect and therefore are the most difficult to acquire. To make them you have to tediously gather ingredients by hunting specific Digimon. You can combine accessories of the same type and level (+1, +2, +3 etc.) but it only increase it’s power by +1. In other words, to get a +2 item you just have to combine two +1 items (simple) but to get a +3 item you need to combine two +2 items (not so simple). With each level up the disparity becomes more evident, a +4 crest will take eight +1 crests. For +5 crests and greater you’ll also need Item Boosters, which you can win 5 of in a quest but after that you’ll need even more WeCash.

Returning to the Real World.

Digimon Battle isn’t a bad game, if it was I wouldn’t have played as long as I did (level 76 tamer). With enough time and effort you can collect most things for free or trade other players for their WeCash items using (a lot) free game money. Plus WeMade is constantly holding special game events that give out items, increased capture rates, or increase experience points.

But overall this game is best suited for those who enjoy all things Digi.

First of all I just want to say that this was a hard decision to make as you all obviously love Digimon.

But none more so than JC, who explains that Digimon is his last connection to his mom before she was killed in car accident. Unfortunately, there is no way for me to verify this but you’d have to be pretty obsessed with Digimon to make up such a story just to win a contest, which would still make you the biggest Digimon fan, albeit in an evil Digimon Emperor sort of way. Mike Beltzner, Director of Firefox, assures users that “The offer screen will only appear after 60 seconds of keyboard inactivity to ensure we don’t get in the way of anyone’s activities.”

In the past 4 days, an additional 55 million have downloaded Firefox 3.6 however some holdouts have concerns about add-on compatibility. Specifically, the fact that the Personas add-on, which allows you to easily switch between custom headers & footers simply mousing over them (link), only works with Firefox’s default theme. But really that’s all you need now that L7 World has its very own Persona, featuring our official mascot and everyone’s favorite Care Bear, Martyr Bear. Unfortunately, it seems it was rejected. Apparently, they only allow Christian Bears (infidels). But you can download the header & footer below and load it manually (recommend white text color & black accent color).

The Kush keeps your “books” stacked and helps prevent page creases. And according to kushsupport.com “The slip-resistant surface and contoured shape help keep Kush in place as a woman rolls from one side to the other during sleep.”

That’s a little hard to swallow. If it really does stay in place during roll overs, why don’t they demonstrate this in their commercials? (videos bottom)

I contacted the company to see if they would be interested in sponsoring a contest in which users of the product would submit videos that demonstrate this claim. Unfortunately they declined citing fears about “misrepresentation and also making sure it is a tactful presentation.”

Their promotional website thekushreport.com features an MTV spoof  in which cartoon character masturbate to the Kush commercial (video right).

Although Kush won’t Support this contest, I will personally pay $7 (via paypal) to whomever can make the most entertaining video (tactful or not/female or not) demonstrating rolling with the Kush. Unfortunately I when I returned later to complete the order a accidentally ordered a “new” hosting account, which was actually cheaper $47.07. When the order was complete I emailed godaddy to correct it but got no response so I cancelled the order online. I tried reordering but godaddy only refunded the hosting (leaving a $2.17 on my credit card for the domain registration) as a result I was unable to use the coupon. The hosting renewal is already discounted and the coupon will only work if there is a regularly priced item during checkout. So now there was a $2.17 domain charge and the original $47.88 hosting renewal charge for a total of $50.05 ($1.30 more than what I was first quoted).

Ok that’s understandable, I just need to get a hold of an actually person and explain that I in fact order both domain and hosting renewal and they could manually enter the coupon and credit the $1.30.

WRONG!

Everyone I contacted via email, as godaddy has no toll-free phone number, completely ignored my detailed explanation, instead they patronized me by telling me that I had received my $2.17 domain promotion. Not only was this not the issue, it doesn’t take a genius to realize $10 off a regularly priced $10.87 domain, which comes to 87 cents, is better than a $2.17 domain.

I told them to move this up to a supervisor and again got no response. After searching non-godaddy sites I finally found the email president@godaddy.com. Surely the President of Godaddy would honor their quotes and credit $1.30 to a longtime customer (going on 3 years).

WRONG!

I got yet another condescending email explaining my “confusion.” Mandy O’Connor wrote “We apologize for any confusion you may have had regarding the renewal pricing. Had you renewed the domain and the hosting appropriately, without a discount, you would have paid $70.57. You indicated that you utilized a $10 discount and this would have brought the total down to $60.57″

BULL!

I know that $47.88 is the correct hosting renewal price as it’s listed on both the receipt godaddy sent me and my credit card, and with the regularly priced domain 10.87 (listed right on their site) the total comes to $58.75 not $70.57. In fact there’s no possible combination that adds up to $70.57. Even a new hosting account only costs $56.88 and if you add a full priced domain for $10.87, you get $67.75 not $70.57. In other words, not even management knows their own prices!

But all this is beside the point. We’re talking about $1.30! I could get a refund out of McDonald’s faster than this. Why would a multi-million dollar company alienate a customer to argue over $1.30 out of $50.05.

As it turns out that Godaddy.com’s bait and switch fraud was the best thing to happen to this site! After a lot of searching I found Hostgator.com to be a much better deal. They give you unlimited disk space, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited MySQL databases, unlimited email, cpanel, and TOLL-FREE SUPPORT! All that for about the same as godaddy’s lowest plan, if you sign up for 3 years. Unfortunately these are tight times so I was hesitant to to shell out $178.20 up front. But there’s a Hostgator Black Friday Sale today for 75% OFF!!! That’s 3 years of superior service for just $44.55, naturally I jumped on the deal. So as soon as I transfer everything over to Hostgator, L7world.com will be officially emancipated from godaddy!

I also like that there’s a quick tutorial when you first login that’ll help you get started. Godaddy ain’t got that! Although honestly I’ll probably never use 1/2 of this stuff.

There was one hiccup though. As some visitors may have noticed, the homepage was up and running but none of the internal links worked. Just blank pages! (arrrghhh!) I contacted hostgator but luckily I was able figured it out myself. I just had to rebuild the sitemap via the Google XML Sitemaps plugin for WordPress (doh!)

Wow this took forever, but it’s finally done! And I gotta say it was totally worth it. Hell, I get a kick out of reading it and I wrote the damn thing.
