“It’s on like Donkey Kong” at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Nintendo wants to trademark the catchphrase “in honor” (read: publicity) of the newest game in the series: Donkey Kong Country Returns, where Donkey Kong will throw subpoenas instead of barrels.
Just one problem, it’s not their catchphrase. The earliest instance of it being used is in Ice Cube’s “Now I gotta Wet’cha” (1992), so it will be on like Donkey Kong when Nintendo tries to dip its hand into the rapper’s pocket.
