The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has updated its website to include mermaids, specifically that they’re pure myth.
“No evidence of aquatic humanoids has ever been found,” the post reads. “Why, then, do they occupy the collective unconscious of nearly all seafaring peoples? That’s a question best left to historians, philosophers, and anthropologists.”
Keeley Belva, spokesperson for NOAA’s National Ocean Service, says the post is in response to Animal Planet’s fake documentary called Mermaids: The Body Found, which was based on a very real but unidentified underwater signal detected by NOAA in 1997.
“As we had gotten a couple questions about mermaids, we thought this would be a fun way to talk about it and to have information up about mermaids in different cultures and to draw people into our website and learn more about what NOAA and the National Ocean Service does,” Belva explained.
Do you think the public is retarded? The cat is out of the bag! You yourself can see that is NOT a seal I don’t care what the marine scientist says, does he have cataracts on his eyes? That is not a seal, I know how seals look. It makes me indignant to see someone try to blatantly lie in your face to keep a job!
