Is your Christmas tree drowning in tinsel? Is it more ornament than tree? Can the Christmas lights be seen from space? There’s literally a solution: Christmas Treegonometry.
The University of Sheffield’s Maths society (SUMS) came up with a series of formulas for the perfectly decorated Christmas tree as part of a challenge by Debenhams department store.
“The formulas took us about two hours to complete,” said Nicole Wrightham, co-creator of the formulas. “We hope the formulas will play a part in making Christmas that little bit easier for everyone.”
There’s also an online calculator for those who’re as good at trigonometry as they’re at decorating Christmas trees.
