Researchers at Lancaster University have patented a death watch, a wristwatch that will tell you when your time’s up! The device uses a noninvasive laser to analyze endothelium, a thin layer of cells that lines the interior surface of blood vessels. A score of 0 to 100 indicates your cardiovascular health and consequently your chances of having a stroke or heart attack, leading causes of death.
“Not very far from now, a £200 to £300 device will be available to everyone for home use,” Professor Aneta Stefanovska told the Daily Mail. “I hope we are developing something to encourage people to take care of their health.”
On the other hand, you might just worry yourself sick.
