Monster cereals back for Halloween
General Mills is temporarily bringing all of their monster cereals back from the dead. Count Chocula, Franken Berry and Boo Berry have been relegated to a seasonal Halloween treat since 2010. Fruity Yummy Mummy and Fruit Brute, now known as Frute Brute for nutritional accuracy, were discontinued in ’92 and ’82 respectively.

The sugary cereals won’t stick around for long. Gen-Xers are hoarding boxes to make them last them until next year explained Sporkful podcast host Dan Pashman in an interview with NPR.

“This artificial scarcity has kind of galvanized a cult following around this time of year for these cereals,” says Pashman, who purchased a box of Boo Berry that doesn’t expire until September 2014. “I’m gonna hang on to that ’til supplies are low and then that’s my nest egg right there.”
