C-3PO VS R2-D2 Star Wars Episode VII
C-3PO and R2-D2 are inseparable but which is the droid you’re looking for when you watch Star Wars?

I’m on Team C-3PO.

I won’t go so far as to say R2-D2 is overrated just that C-3PO is underrated.

C-3PO is “fluent in over six million forms of communication,” the most important one being English with robot being a close second. Without Threepio we’d wouldn’t know what Artoo was saying but he’s more than just the voice of this robotic comedy duo.

C-3PO plays a crucial role in ever episode of the original trilogy:

Episode IV: A New Hope

When the Jawa merchants bring out C-3PO and R2-D2, Owen Lars passes by Artoo and specifically says “not that one.” He opts for the R5-D4 instead. It breaks down but that doesn’t necessarily mean Artoo was his next choice. There was also an R1 unit for sale. R2-D2 is selected only after C-3PO personally vouches him. If not for C-3PO, Luke would have never gotten Princess Leia’s message for Obi-Wan.

Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (deleted scene)

Han and Leia manage to safely escape the rebel base on Hoth after C-3PO removes a sign warning about a trapped Wampa. The pursuing snowtroopers stop and investigate to the unmarked room with dire consequences for one of them.

Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

The Empire wouldn’t have been overthrown without the help of the Ewoks, who only become allies with the rebels because they believe C-3PO to be a golden god. Don’t forget, the Ewoks nearly ate Luke, Han and Chewbacca!

Are you on Team C-3PO or Team R2-D2?
