Family Guy Brian Griffin dies (Life of Brian)
Not everyone is sad to see Brian go. “That guy sucked,” says an angry squirrel, who spits on him.

This week’s Family Guy lived up to its announcement that a member of the Griffin family would die. Creator Seth MacFarlane killed Brian Griffin, who MacFarlance voices. The other cast members were shocked but mostly they were just glad it wasn’t them executive producer Steve Callaghan told E! Online. Killing the family pet was deemed more realistic and less traumatic than killing one the children (even Meg).

Tribute to Brian Griffin

Brian is run over by car, ironically only moments after Stewie dismantles his time machine because it nearly gets them killed for the umpteenth time. Stewie attempts to rebuild it but his Arab supplier explains that plutonium has gotten much harder to come by. After a heartfelt goodbye, the Griffins decide to get another dog to fill the hole in their family.

Brian isn’t the only one who’s been replaced so has MacFarlane. Tony Sirico (Sopranos) provides the voice for Vinny, who has been written specifically for the actor know for playing a stereotypical Italian.

“I’m a pussy hound,” Vinny tells his new master. “That just means I’m 1/16 cat.”

The gregarious dog quickly ingratiates himself with entire family except for Stewie but a heart-to-heart talk changes his mind. Vinny tells him that he recently lost his old master can relate to what he’s going though.

“I met your family in the pet store,” he explains. “When I saw you guys looking for a dog, I kinda sense you all going through the same feelings of loss that I was and it made me think, ‘Hey maybe I was meant to find these guys. Maybe we were meant to be together.'”

Stewie and Vinny hug it out but that doesn’t mean he’s a big softie.

“Vinny is a really good match for Stewie,” Callaghan said. “Where Brian was sort of a match for Stewie intellectually, Vinny is a good match for Stewie because he doesn’t let Stewie get away with any crap. He’ll call Stewie out on his B.S. freely.”

Callaghan says he isn’t worried about backlash over killing Brain because fans are loyal but then again so was Brian!

In “Dog Gone” Brian was grief stricken about running over a dog with his own car. He eventually confessed to the hit and run accident but was shocked to learn that no cared because it was just an animal. Peter even joked about killing Brian.
