BBC has released a teaser for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special “The Day of the Doctor” that shows the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) and Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman) looking at an impossible painting by Queen Elizabeth I that depicts what appears to be a Gallifreyan city being attacked by Daleks.

The “The Day of the Doctor” trailer won’t officially be released until tomorrow but a Spanish subtitled version was leaked today. It confirms that the ancient space battle mentioned in the episode synopsis is in fact the Time War. The real spoiler is that Rose (Billie Piper) appears to be filled with time vortex energy from the TARDIS, which suggests this is Bad Wolf Rose. She seems to be guiding the disowned Doctor (John Hurt), who ended the Time War by killing both sides. “The moment is coming,” she tells him.
What if Rose is actually the one who ended the Time War?
In “The Parting of the Ways” Rose erases the Dalek Emperor and his fleet. She declares, “The time war ends.” Perhaps she did more than send herself the Bad Wolf message. This would not only tie together the entire reboot but also allow for flashback featuring the Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston).
