President Obama sign language translates into laughs on SNL (Jay Pharoah and Kenan Thompson)
Your friendly neighborhood sign language interpreter explains Obamacare “web” site.

President Obama’s trip Africa for Nelson Mandela’s memorial gave Saturday Night Live (SNL) plenty of material to spoof.

Obama (Jay Pharoah) acknowledged his many gaffes such as shaking hands with Cuban President Raúl Castro, taking a selfie with Prime Minister of Denmark, Helle Thorning Schmidt, and of course his schizophrenic sign language interpreter, Thamsanqa Jantjie.

He then addressed the Obamacare website with yet anther dubious interpreter (Kenan Thompson), who used Spider-Man hand gestures among other ad-libbed hand signs. This interpreter was quickly hauled off, despite his attempt to escape by climbing up an imaginary rope.

presidential selfie

German Chancellor Angela Merkel (Kate McKinnon) popped in to express her jealously of the Danish prime minister’s selfie with the president. She asked for her own and insisted that it was the least he could do after the NSA tapped her cellphone. She too was removed by security but declared, “I will always love you.”

The interpreter made one final appearance, and for the first time said something that actually made sense: “Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!”
