The whole town of Springfield is getting into the spirit of the season in The Simpsons Christmas episode, “White Christmas Blues.” Nuclear fallout has out-of-towners flocking to Springfield for a white Christmas so Homer and Marge turn their home into a bed and breakfast to help stuff their stocking and wallets.
The opening has been completely redecorated with Barney as Santa and Santa’s Little Helper as Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, while the rest of the town has been transformed into elves. Even Apu hangs stockings with his children on a statue of his eight-armed god. The only scrooge is Comic Book Guy, who is the sole person celebrating Festivus “the holiday for the rest of us.”
There’s a hidden Easter egg just as the camera pans to the Simpson house. Mrs. Krabappel is shown as a Christmas angel in memory of voice actress Marcia Wallace, who died this year. Floating beside her is Simpsons Writer Don Payne, who also passed away.
