Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer unveiled (Michelangelo face unmasked)

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have a new origin. The trailer reveals that their archenemy had a hand (or foot) in their creation.

Shredder (William Fichtner) tells reporter April O’Neil (Megan Fox) that her father was working with him to create heroes to help bring justice to city, which has become a war zone.

“People want heroes, Ms. O’Neil,” explains Shredder. “But heroes aren’t born, they’re created. That’s what your father and I were trying to do. Create heroes.”

The heroes in a half shell have been super-sized. It’s questionable whether they could even fit down a manhole. In fact, they’re so big that their bodies have become weapons. They perform a fastball special with Donatello throwing Raphael into a truck that is demolished. Their faces are the biggest difference though (see: evolution of the turtles). The beaks have been replaced with noses and lips that gives them an eerily human like appearance.

April is visibly shocked so Michelangelo tries to calm her down by assuring her it’s just a mask. She clearly thinks he means more than the bandanna around his face because when he removes it she faints (she’s not the only one). He looks like Yoda on steroids. Hopefully, the changes are only skin deep and the turtles are the same pizza lovin’ goofballs we fell in love with.
