Jimmy Fallon demos Sony Project Morpheus Virtual Reality headset

Jimmy Fallon and Channing Tatum duked it out on the Tonight Show, Friday. Tech guy Joshua Topolsky gave them each one of Sony’s Virtual Reality (VR) headsets codenamed Project Morpheus, which debuted in March at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2014. Morpheus is name after the god of dreams. It can track head movement in real-time while rendering 3d video and stereoscopic sounds, allowing players to be fully immersed in the virtual world. In this case, a medieval game called The Castle. The confused players initially attacked each other rather than the practice dummy. By the time they figured it out, a giant dragon descended and ate them whole. Hand and weapon attacks are controlled using two PS Move motion controller, one for each hand.

There’s no price point yet but considering Topolsky recommended a $1599 camera as a Father’s Day gift, plan on a lot! Sony’s current VR headset (HMZ-T3) runs north of $800.
