Sharknado blows compared to Syfy’s latest monster movie: Sharktopus Vs. Pteracuda. The half-shark, half-octopus creature was created as a weapon by the U.S. Navy but they lost control of it. The original was blown to bits in the first movie so the navy enlists its offspring to take down another failed experiment: Pteracuda (half-pterodactyl and half-barracuda). The trailer shows Pteracuda ripping off what looks like a mind control device of Sharktopus, which explains why it’s killing again. Perhaps they will try to reason with it. Another scene shows Sharktopus is able to communicate by pointing to words and symbols to communicate. Unfortunately, those words are “eat” and “people.”
The blood soaked trailer spoils several death scenes including that of Conan O’Brien, who plays an arrogant version himself in his acting debut. He’s such a jerk that when Sharktopus skewers and decapitates him, some beachgoers use his head as a volleyball.
You’d be as foolish as Conan to dismiss Sharktopus there’s already sequel: Sharktopus Vs. Mermantula. That’s right, half-merman, half-tarantula!
Sharktopus Vs. Pteracuda premieres 9 p.m. Saturday, August 2.
