Simpsons ending revealed by Al Jean Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire Christmas Special

The Simpsons season 26 hasn’t even premiered yet but Executive Producer Al Jean is already talking about the series ending. Jean opined about the show during the FXX Simpsons marathon.

“My idea for last episode — ends w/arrival at Xmas pageant (beginning of first episode). Whole series a continuous loop…” he tweeted.

The Simpsons Christmas Special “Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire,” opened with Homer, Marge and Maggie going to school Christmas pageant featuring their children. Lisa performed as “Tawonga” the Santa Claus of the South Seas. Bart sings Jingle Bells, Batman Smells until being yanked off stage.

Personally, I’d go back to the very first short “Good Night” on the Tracey Ullman show. It ends with the whole family in bed, then cuts to black when they close their eyes.

Ullman could the return to truly bring the show full circle. She wakes up from a nightmare that her show was cancelled but The Simpsons got their own show.

The Simpsons season 26 premieres September 28 on Fox.
