The Comic Book Men have done everything from going to work dressed in Superman cosplay to patrolling the streets on the Batcycle but that was nothing compared this season according to Kevin Smith, owner of Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash comic book store.

“This year, we find our niche,” says Smith. “We let our geek flag fly. In the past, we held back a little because we wondered if anyone would understand who or what we’re talking about, but this season, we went for it. There are a lot of guest stars including DMC from Run DMC, which was awesome for me. My jaw hit the ground. He had some amazing stories about selling comic books to buy his turntables. Stuff like that is heaven to me.”

Other guest stars include Kiss’ Gene Simmons, Dean Cain (The New Adventures of Superman), Nichelle Nichols (Star Trek TOS), Brian O’Halloran (Clerks), Billy Dee Williams (Star Wars), Adam West (Batman TV series) and Robbie Rist (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1990).

There will even be an appearance by Harley Quinn! No, it’s not the Joker’s psychotic girlfriend / sidekick but Smith’s daughter, who was named after the comic book character. Harley guest stars in the season premiere “Heir Apparent.” She stops by to get some experiencing working behind the counter for her upcoming lead role as a clerk in Yoga Hosers, the sequel to Smith’s Tusk, which she made she also made an appearance in as a clerk.

This hopefully won’t be the last woman behind the counter. Smith says he been pushing for AMC to do a spin-off called Comic Book Women.

“I know for a fact there’s gotta be some comic book store out there with an all-woman crew,” he told the Canadian newspaper Metro. “So I’m all for doing it, man. Somebody else has to put up some loot for it though.

“I think if maybe we got to season five of ‘Comic Book Men,’ I could make the viable argument for ‘Isn’t it time? Isn’t it time for ‘Comic Book Women?’” he said. “If we can survive at 12 (midnight), that means ‘Comic Book Women’ could survive at 12:30 for sure.”

Comic Book Men premieres Sunday midnight, October 12 on AMC.
