In The Walking Dead season 5 Rick and the others escape from the cannibals at Terminus but UK fans want in. A pop-up restaurant served cannibal burgers in London on Tuesday to promote the show.

“With fans up and down the country hungry for Season 5 of The Walking Dead, this is certainly a unique tribute to the series,” said Chef James Thomlinson. “My food is inspired by flavor combinations and fresh produce, so it was a little odd to be inspired by the words of cannibals instead.”

The promotion was cooked up by creative director Emma Thomas AKA Miss Cakehead and Fox, which airs the series in the UK. Thomlinson says he researched actual cannibals to create a reasonable facsimile that people could stomach.

“I felt a big dodgy doing all the research … I did feel a bit ‘Oh god, what am I doing.'” Thomlinson admits. “I’ve come up with something that is tasty … I haven’t made it deliberately disgusting.”

The recipe includes pork mince, veal mince and bone marrow (minced), which gives it texture the chef told Yahoo TV.

“It’s really good. It’s really, really juicy actually,” he touted the well done flesh. “The bone marrow really helps that along, gives it an extra juiciness,” says Thomlinson. “I have used very good quality meat, as well. So nothing is rubbery or chewy or anything. It’s just very nice and tender and juicy.”

Among the condiments is bacon ketchup, which gives looks like dripping blood. The bacon also smells like cooked flesh according to a cannibal infographic that is included as burger wrapper.

“A food testing robot developed by NEC identified human meat as bacon,” it notes. “Additionally, most firefighters hate the smell of frying bacon as it reminds them of the smell of burnt human skin.”

Thomlinson said that he’d be willing to eat the real thing in order survive so make sure to avoid him when the impending zombie apocalypse happens.

The Walking Dead premieres October 12, Sunday 9PM on AMC (US) and October 13, Monday 9PM on Fox (UK).
