Saturday Night Live parodied the new Star Wars trailer with an extended version featuring the old cast (emphasis on old). Host James Franco portrays a geriatric Jedi Luke Skywalker, who gets around on a lightsaber walker. Jay Pharoah is cast as the black Stormtrooper portrayed by John Boyega. He asks Han Solo (Taran Killam) where to find Luke but Han can’t hear him over the Star Wars theme music. Han and Chewbacca are still flying the Millennium Falcon but they probably shouldn’t be at their age. They wave other spaceships to go around.
Lando (Kenan Thompson) is still a pushover. He complains to his Twi’lek wife (Leslie Jones) about having to do chores but quickly backs down. She should have told him, “You better pray I don’t give you more chores!”
Princess Leia (Kenan Thompson) has not aged well. She’s put on some pounds and wears glasses. She’s so old that she’s no longer able to program R2-D2, who blinks like a VCR. Leia and Han are shocked by the appearance of the new R2-D2 soccer ball. The robot looks into the camera resulting in the obligatory lens flare that Director J.J. Abrams is known for in his movies.
Jabba the Hutt’s pet Salacious B. Crumb is much less energetic than it used to be. The little guy just rolls around in a miniature wheelchair.
