Simpsons Every Mans Dream Homer and Marge separate Treehouse of Horror XXVI Bart dead

Springfield’s longest-married couple is splitsville. Homer and Marge (Dan Castellaneta and Julie Kavner) have been married for over a quarter of a century but they split up in the season premiere “Every Man’s Dream,” which sounds like a possible dream sequence.

Homer discovers his sleeping on the job is the result of narcolepsy. The medical condition causes mores problems at home when he goes to Moe’s instead of the pharmacy. Marge forces him to see a marriage counselor (Laura Ingraham) who suggests a trial separation. Homer finds himself a new ‘girl.’ He falls in love with his pharmacist, Candace, voiced by Lena Dunham. There will also be cameos by the rest of the Girls cast.

Bart Simpson (Nancy Cartwright) will have his own problems revealed executive producer Al Jean to EW Radio. Sideshow Bob (Kelsey Grammer) finally kills Bart in this year’s Halloween episode “Treehouse of Horror XXVI.”

“I’m one of the people that always wanted the Coyote to eat the Road Runner,” Jean said in reference to the Looney Tunes cartoon. “When I was a kid, I wanted the rabbit to get the Trix [cereal]. I hated frustration comedy. So we’ll scratch that itch in the Halloween show.”

That itch and scratch could be a hint to a cameo by The Itchy & Scratchy, the show within a show. Perhaps, Bart and Sidehow Bob get sucked into TV and fill in for the cat and mouse. It wouldn’t be the first time the fictional characters threatened the Simpson family. They were nearly killed by robot versions during a visit to a theme park in “Itchy & Scratchy Land.”

The Simpsons season 27 premieres Sunday 8PM, September 27 on Fox.
