Deadpool red band trailer debuts on Conan massage

Deadpool is the known as “the Merc with a Mouth” and he lives up to his name in the red band trailer. Conan O’Brien bragged about receiving a mature rating for debuting the trailer. The host and crew gave the middle finger and freely cursed all of which was uncensored except for the F word, which was also bleeped in the trailer.

Guest Ryan Reynolds explained the backstory behind the character but was interrupted by the host, who has had firsthand experience with the superhero. A flashback reveals Deadpool literally saved his ass! He noticed it was missing while massaging Conan.

Reynolds said he’s been attached to the film for 11 years and teared up when he finally saw the suit, which is the real deal. In fact, Wade Wilson insists it be real and not CG when he becomes Deadpool for the sake of his girlfriend, Vanessa (Morena Baccarin).

“Please don’t make the super suit green or animated,” he asks the scientist at the Weapon X project, who inject him with Wolverine’s healing factor.

Deadpool’s greatest superpower is the ability to break the fourth wall so expect more such one-liners.

Deadpool isn’t just a mercenary…he’s a gangsta! He chills to “Shoop” by Salt ‘n’ Pepa on this old-school radio but when it’s go-time he cranks it up with “X Gonna Give It To Ya” by DMX. He brutally slaughters his enemies, blowing out their brains in graphic detail. But that’s nothing compared to his frightening face. Deadpool’s healing factor has the unfortunate side effect of actually exacerbating his cancer and scarring his skin. Deadpool and his friend Jack Hammer AKA Weasel (T. J. Miller) take turns roasting his burnt looking face.

“You look like Freddy Krueger face-fucked a topographic map of Utah,” Weasel tells him.

It seems callous until you know Deadpool isn’t a great friend. Weasel’s comic book origin story began with Deadpool travelling back in time and sabotaging his life. Weasel turned to a life of crime as an information broker and weapons dealer, which worked out great for the mercenary.

Deadpool movie Colossus

We still don’t know the story behind Colossus (Andre Tricoteu), who inexplicably appears to smack Deadpool like a beeyatch. Given Deadpool’s anti-hero status it’s possible Colossus is there to save the day. His belt features the iconic X symbol but that doesn’t necessarily stand for X-Men. Colossus was also a member of the more militant group X-Force as was Deadpool. Another X-Force alum is Psylocke whom Olivia Munn portrays in X-Men: Apocalypse. Marvel films almost always end with a post credits setting up the next movie and X-Force seems a distinct possibility.

Deadpool premieres February 12, 2016.
