Spring Break Zombie Massacre movie Sam Suchmann and Mattie Zufelt Down Syndrome

Creativity knows no bounds, not even disability. Best friends Sam Suchmann and Mattie Zufelt didn’t let Down Syndrome stop them from making “The greatest Teen Zombie Movie ever made.” They raised $69K on Kickstarter to fund Spring Break Zombie Massacre, which received the red carpet treatment in their hometown of Rhode Island.

“Me and Mattie are different, but our bro-ship is bigger than anything. We’re not ordinary. We’re rebellious. Back in the day we’d be locked in an asylum or a group home, but it’s not like that anymore,” Suchmann told TIME.

“People with disabilities have a voice to be heard. Some people have dreams like us, to make a zombie movie. We want other people with disabilities to scream at the top of their lungs to let other people know who they are,” Zufelt added.

Suchmann and Zufelt are not only the stars, they also wrote the short film when they were still teenagers. It’s a fantastical formula akin to the Axe Cop comic book and cartoon written by a 5-year-old.

Sam and Mattie receive bionic upgrades to fight bullies in the form of zombies, demons and even the Devil himself! Mattie manages to supercharge Sam with his DJing skills. Real-life DJ and Rhode Island native, Pauly D (Jersey Shore), also makes a cameo.
