Universal Studios Japan has announced its biggest ride ever: “Godzilla: The Real 4D.” A 4D attraction is a 3D movie that interacts with audience by moving the seats to simulate the movement seen on the screen. An added sense of realism is achieved with effects such as wind, smoke, rain and even smells. That’s right, we might actually get to smell Godzilla! That could be the scariest part given that he spends most of his time submerged in the ocean.
The promo photos feature Godzilla’s latest iteration as seen in Godzilla Resurgence AKA Shin Godzilla, which translates to “New,” “True,” or “God” Godzilla. Godzilla Resurgence only includes the titular DaiKaiju (giant monster), though he does evolve different appearances throughout the movie. Hopefully, they’ll bring in some classic daikaiju like Mothra. Just imagine being blasted by a gust of wind as the giant moth flaps its wings.
Godzilla: The Real 4D will debut January 13th, 2017 at Universal Cool Japan, a mega attraction consisting of primarily Japanese properties such as movies, anime and video games.
The attraction will presumably have life-size statues similar to “Attack on Titan the Real 2,” which featured 50-foot-tall titans battling each other. The new Godzilla is a record 389 feet tall so a full-size statue seems unlikely; however, they could recreate just part of Big G as they did with a titan head juxtaposed with a rooftop. It might be worth the trip to Japan just to stand face-to-face with the King of Monsters (sorry King Kong).
