The Netflix series Stranger Things unceremoniously killed off Barb (Shannon Purser) but Jimmy Fallon revived the fan favorite on the Tonight Show. The skit features series stars Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) playing Dungeons and Dragons. They’re interrupted by the resident bully Steve (Fallon) and Barb, portrayed by A. D. Miles, better known as the Ew dad.
Barb is rightfully upset with the kids. They only bothered to save their friend, Will (Noah Schnapp), from the hellish parallel dimension known as the Upside Down. She managed to escape by making a deal with the Demogorgon monster for Will. This time Will uses the Christmas lights to communicate a simple message for the beyond: “FU.”
The ginger girl tells the kids she’s leaving the show for her own Netflix spin-off Orange is the New Bitch.
They’re not coming to get you Barbara
Barb’s ultimate fate was revealed in “Chapter Seven: The Bathtub.” Eleven astral projected to the Upside Down but Barb was already slug food.
Purser won’t be back for Stranger Things season 2 says series co-creator Matt Duffer.
“I can’t see it happening” Duffer revealed in an interview with IGN. “But Barb will not be forgotten. We’ll make sure there’s some justice for Barb. People get very frustrated, understandably, that the town doesn’t seem to be really dealing with Barb. That stuff is all happening. We’re just not spending any screen time on it. It’s not like her parents are like ‘Oh Barb left. She died!’ Season One actually takes place over the course of six or seven days – it’s a really short period of time. So part of what we want to do with hypothetical Season 2 is to explore the repercussions of everything that happened.”
Purser will portray yet another geeky girl as Ethel Muggs in Riverdale, the upcoming series based on Archie Comics. The television version of Ethel will no longer be Jugghead’s girlfriend and she hangs out with cool kids, Veronica and Betty. At least if these friends ditch her, it will only be the end of her social life.
Riverdale premieres on the CW early 2017.
