Jimmy Kimmel sidekick Guillermo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Drax
Jimmy Kimmel gave a behind-the-scenes look at his sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez making his big screen debut as Cop #2 in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Guillermo met with fellow cast members: Christ Pratt (Peter Quill AKA Star-Lord), Kurt Russell (Ego) and Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer), who stayed in character the whole time. Drax insisted he also show off his “adequate” nipples for the role.

Guillermo’s acting was stiffer than his nipples. Director James Gunn described his performance as “eh…”
His screen time was cut down to a single frame of his head in the background.

Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 Ego

Big Ego gets the best of Guillermo

The police are guarding a mysterious blue rock that lets out a growl before expanding like the Blob. It absorbs everything in its path including Cop #2. The entity is presumably Star-Lord’s father, Ego, a sentient planet usually depicted as purple in the comic books.

“Ego is a living planet who is able to manifest himself in different ways he’s been alone for millions of years and he’s learned how to control the molecules around him in such a way as to create avatars of themselves, such as Kurt Russell,” Gunn told Complex.

The crowd is using smart phones so the scene is set in present day, ruling out Quill’s biological father (Russell). However, Aaron Schwartz will reportedly play a young Ego. This does not necessarily mean a flashback of a young Kurt Russell. Gunn noted Ego can create “avatars” (plural). The young (i.e., new) Ego avatar may be the as of yet unidentified big bad. Is Star-Lord out to avenge Cop #2?
