Harley Quinn is usually portrayed as a madwoman with a mallet, but she wasn’t always that way. Before becoming the Joker’s lovesick sidekick, she was Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a respected psychologist at Arkham Asylum. A fact we’re keenly reminded of in “Hell Hath No Fury” a 2-part story beginnning in Gotham City Sirens #20.

After years of being the Joker’s punchline, Harley decides to have the last laugh by killing him. All she needs to do is break into Arkham Asylum using four seemingly meaningless items: marbles, a flower, a crowbar, and a rusty nail.

The items represent pivotal moments in the staff’s lives, which are artfully told in flashbacks contained within the silhouette of each item. Harley calls these her trump cards, weak spots in the emotional armor we all wear.

The twist is that Harley has her own trump card, the Joker. When she finally reaches him, she realizes that her memories of their time together are all she has left. Harley ultimately forgives Joker because while she may not be crazy, she is crazy in love.
