Grocery AuctionYou know the economy is bad when Americans cut back on food.

At least nine states have started auctioning off groceries. The savings can be over 50% but the food isn’t exactly the cream of the crop. They’re mostly leftovers that are either damaged or over expiration.

A little fungus doesn’t bother Linda Dennis, “winner” of a bag of frozen pizza bites (exp. Feb 9). Linda swears by the auctions, “The quality and taste may go down, but that doesn’t mean you can’t eat it.” A glowing endorsement if ever I heard one.
