The super heroes and villains take a well earned break and go on Spring Break in Robot Chicken DC Comics Special II: Villains In Paradise. Creator Seth Green said they painstakingly designed swimsuits for each of the characters while maintaining their identifying emblems. His favorite costume was for Bizarro, who wears a parka jacket to the beach naturally.
Things heat up when a relationship develops between star-crossed lovers Superboy and Lena, the daughter of Lex Luthor. Green calls it a comic book version of West Side Story complete with three musical numbers.
The first special mocked Aquaman but Lex Luthor will be the punchline this time. The Legion of Doom of lets him have it when an embarrassing YouTube video surfaces of “Sex Lex” back in high school looking like the lead singer of an 80s hair band.
“When we did Sex Luthor, I do remember for a split second somewhere a small voice ‘Man you could’ve been a rock star,'” laughs Alfred Molina, who voices Lex Luthor. “Thankfully, for the world of music and for the sake of my career that moment didn’t last too long.”
Direct Zeb Wells showed off some of the 22 Robot Chicken variant covers for DC comics, including a Sex Lex variant cover for Forever Evil #7, on sale May 21.
Robot Chicken DC Comics Special II: Villains In Paradise premieres 11:30 p.m. ET Sunday, April 6.
