FX has yet to release an actual trailer for the upcoming TV adaption of Director Guillermo del Toro’s novel and comic book The Strain. Instead it’s meting out tantalizing teasers that have started to increase infrequency to build excitement for the impending trailer. They don’t give us a lot to go on, except that it will be creepy as hell.
The series follows CDC head Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and vampire hunter Professor Abraham Setrakian (David Bradley) as they attempt to stop an outbreak of an ancient vampiric parasite that transforms humans in bloodsuckers with tentacle tongues.
The most disturbing teaser features a woman with a lump in her throat. It’s presumably a tentacle but it becomes a face, a symbolic representation of the evil entity inside her that’s hungry to get out.
The Strain will break out this July on FX.
