An Indiana mother gave her 5-year-old son a superhero funeral like the iconic scene of Superman being laid to rest in the “Funeral for a friend” storyline.
However, this Superboy was given a send-off by characters from both Marvel and DC Universes. The pallbearers came dressed as Superman, Batman, Thor, Hulk, Iron Man and Spider-Man, the favorite superhero of Brayden Denton, who lost his battle with cancer earlier this month. Brayden got to meet his hero in person during a trip to Universal Studios courtesy of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
“He was a huge Spider-Man fan,” explained Mrs. Denton. “He had to quit just liking Spider-Man because he had all the toys. So really he liked every superhero.”
Brayden suffered from an incurable form of cancer known as Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), which has a 2 year survival rate of only 10%. The brain tumor was donated for research to help saves lives just like a real-life superhero.
