J.J. Abrams’ production company, Bad Robot, has new YouTube channel with mysterious trailer titled “Stranger.” In it a man with bound hands emerges from the ocean and encounters another man with his lips sewn shut. The narration suggests the first man is suffering from amnesia and lost. He’s not the only one.
There are as many theories about what the trailer is for as there are projects in the works. Bad Robot has two new television series: Almost Human, a futuristic crime drama with robot police, and Believe, a fantasy-adventure series about a girl superpowers. Abrams is partnering with author Doug Dorst in a new novel simply titled S, which is said to have a viral component that will bleed into the real world. There’s even talk of a Lost spin-off.
But the clues hint at something stranger. The black and white video features a starry night sky, blurry spherical light and creepy narrator just like The Twilight Zone opening. It couldn’t be more obvious if there was a signpost!
Bad Robot recently bought the rights to Rod Serling’s unproduced The Twilight Zone screenplay “The Stops Along The Way.” The story will be produced with Warner Bros. in a miniseries format as originally intended by Serling.
