Electro origin revealed in Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailer

The super-sized Super Bowl trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 features the origin of Electro, who trades in his yellow and green costume for a black and blue one but that’s not the only thing that’s darker.

Max Dillon (Jamie Foxx) is a self-professed “nobody” so he’s shocked when Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) calls him by name, which is written on his badge for OsCorp where he works as an electrical engineer.

“You’re my eyes and ears,” Spider-Man tells him.

Dillon becomes obsessed with the hero and starts tracking him through newspaper clippings connected with blue and red thread. He even cuts out letters to make what looks a good version of a serial killer note that reads: “Max & Spider-Man save New York.”

Dillon gets his chance to be like his idol when he falls into a tank of electric eels and becomes a living battery capable of shooting lightning bolt but sparks fly when Spider-Man doesn’t recognize Electro.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings into theaters May 2, 2014.
