Hooligans beware! The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have put up help wanted ads on storm drain covers around Newcastle, England.
It’s not the latest case of viral marketing by a movie studio but a joke by British barber Patrick Forster. He’s pulled similar stunts in the past but this time the city council put their foot down. They made him put the flyers in the shredder and issued a £240 ($400) fine for littering.
“I was just trying to make people laugh,” Forster said in his defense. “I think the council could have had a bit of common sense and shown a sense of humour.”
His customers are showing their support with donations but Forster says all the money will go to savetheseaturtle.org. He’ll raise more money for the charity by dressing as a hero in a half shell for “Turtle Thursday” at his salon. If you can’t afford to shell out any money, you can show your support on Twitter using the hashtag #TurtleGate.
