Just when you think Superman can’t get any more evil, the unhinged hero uses his heat vision to kill Black Canary in Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year Two #22. Canary and Harley Quinn swore vengeance against Superman after he killed both of their baby daddies: Green Arrow & Joker.
Harley helps take down Superman’s allies including the Flash. The former Arkham psychiatrist tells the misguided hero that she has been tasked with reprogramming him. She uses electro-shock therapy with a Superman doll to create an aversion to his super friend.
Canary enrages Superman by telling him she’s glad Lois died before seeing the “evil, murdering dictator” that he’s become. It lures him close so she can shoot a Kryptonite bullet, though she intentionally avoids vital organs. The bereaved widow tells him she’s sparing him at the request of Batman, who is still recovering from a broken break courtesy of Supes.
Victory seems assured when the Green Lanterns defeat the Sinestro Corps but one of the yellow ring from a felled enemy finds its ways to Superman. “You have the ability to instill great fear,” the ring tells Superman as if to confirm his fall from grace. He uses the ring to make a yellow construct and remove the bullet. The ring only fuels his rage. Superman fires his heat vision at Dinah, who looks down in horror at the holes in her stomach.
Green Lantern Hal Jordan joins the Yellow Side
Yellow Lantern Superman stands over the lifeless heroine but we don’t know if she’s really dead. No vital organs were hit and the heat vision may have cauterized the wound. In fact, we see no blood. If she did survive, expect her to go back on her promise to Batman.
Black Canary’s Fate revealed in Injustice series
Perhaps Harley will have the last laugh and be the one to kill Superman. It would bring the series full circle by having her avenge the death of the Joker. The summary execution of the villain for killing Lois Lane was the first of many lines crossed by the champion of truth, justice and the American way.
hello..well…i see blood. when she is standing and she gets hit by xray…and when she falls there is blood and fire still! As for If she is dead or not…well….her eyes are open…maybe she died instantly or…… she is conscious with open mouth and eyes rolled hahahaha….. i understand the writer logic..but drawings reveal more. Drawings tell me she died.
“No vital organs were hit and the heat vision may have cauterized the wound ” hahah i laughed a lot….no vital organs were hit? im sceptic. cauterized wound? i dont doubt it but before that…damaged organs… baby is dead for sure unless it gained pill power but no way because Xrays went through…so my hope not logic is that she still lives but drawing tells me she is so dead….
If you mean the red glow that’s the heat vision. Regardless, if she had 4 eye-sized holes (back and front) she’d be gushing blood, which is not the case in the final panel. As for whether she’s dead, it’s certainly made to look that way but comics are notoriously deceptive to move more books. Fortunately, it’s a weekly book so we won’t have to wait long to find out.
issue 24 is out…yep….she is dead….. and that red glow you refered to…well…i think is blood..so clear to me !! proof..look isuee 24 hahahahaha..lots of blood. deceptive? i dont think so..she is dead…she was took to another place but in this timeline..she died. Im good at deducting.
did you travel to the future to find out? oh my….you were right! can you analyze another drawing? i want to know how this ends!!! are you the batman? > :)
I obviously couldn’t reveal if I was but no I’m not Batman.
“If she did survive, expect her to go back on her promise to Batman.” XD yes please XD
sorry…no way she is going back…SORRY ! “if she survive”—> what are u talking about? she is dead… XD
She survived long enough to reveal that she recorded her own murder in next issue then Doctor Fate saved in the following issue.
